Your Payslip Shows A Different Number? The usual reasons, worked out for you

PF On Your Full Basic

On full basic your PF would be ₹25,000 a month and your in-hand ₹2,75,725 (₹37,517 less). PF on full basic (requires a joint request accepted by EPFO).

Variable Pay Or A Bonus

If part of your CTC is a bonus or variable pay, it is paid once a year, so your monthly pay is lower than a figure that treats all of it as fixed.

Tax Deducted Differently

We spread your income tax evenly: ₹87,762 a month, ₹10,53,140 for the year (New regime). Many employers deduct more in the early months or catch up in February and March, so one month’s payslip can differ even when the year agrees. Compare the yearly total on your Form 16, and ask HR which regime they are using.

Restructured After The Labour Codes

Your basic is already 50% of your fixed pay, the level the Code on Wages favours, so a restructure would not change this figure.

Insurance, Loans Or Other Deductions

Group insurance, meal cards and loan instalments come out of your pay but not out of your CTC.

You Joined Or Changed Jobs This Year

Your new employer works out tax from your joining date, and may use your previous employer’s figures (Form 12B). The first months can differ from this full-year estimate.

01 The basics

Where Every ₹100 Of 50 LPA Goes

On a 50 lakh CTC, ₹75 of every ₹100 reaches your bank. The rest goes to tax, PF and gratuity.

  • ₹75 Reaches your bank ₹37,65,448 a year · Your take-home pay
  • ₹21 Income tax ₹10,53,140 a year · Deducted each month (TDS)
  • ₹1 Your PF ₹29,360 a year · Saved for you in EPF
  • ₹1 Employer’s PF ₹29,360 a year · In your CTC, never in your pay
  • ₹2 Gratuity ₹1,20,192 a year · Paid when you leave, after 5 years
  • under ₹1 Professional tax ₹2,500 a year · A small state tax

That is ₹3,13,242 a month in your bank. Work out yours exactly ↑

Read the full explanation

On a ₹50,00,000 CTC, ₹1,49,552 never reaches you as salary: ₹29,360 is your employer's PF and ₹1,20,192 is gratuity set aside for when you leave. Both are counted in your CTC and both belong to you in the end, but neither is in the monthly pay.

Of the ₹48,50,448 that is paid as salary, ₹29,360 goes into your own PF, ₹2,500 to professional tax in Karnataka and ₹10,53,140 to income tax. That leaves ₹37,65,448, 75.3% of your CTC.

02 The working

How 50 LPA Becomes ₹3,13,242

Take out what you never receive, divide by 12, then subtract PF, professional tax and income tax. Five steps, on your ₹50,00,000.

  1. Take Out What You Never Receive

Employer PF, gratuity and any insurance the employer pays are in your CTC but not in your pay. What is left is your gross salary for the year.

  2. Divide By 12

That is your gross monthly pay.

  3. Subtract Your PF

On the ceiling, PF is 12% of ₹25,000: at most ₹3,000 a month from 17 September 2026 (₹1,800 before).

  4. Subtract Professional Tax

Your state sets it, and some states do not charge it.

  5. Subtract Income Tax

Your employer works out your tax for the year and deducts it in monthly parts (TDS).

Your basic is ₹2,08,333 a month, above the ₹25,000 PF wage ceiling, so PF on the ceiling is ₹3,000 a month. If your employer deducts on the full basic it is ₹25,000, which is why the calculator shows both.

09 Questions

Questions About 50 LPA In-Hand

How much is 50 LPA per month in hand?

50 LPA (₹50,00,000 a year) is about ₹3,13,242 a month in hand in October 2026, in Bengaluru on the new regime. Before deductions your gross pay is ₹4,04,204 a month. People search this as "50 lpa per month", "50 lakh per annum in month" or "5000000 ctc in hand salary": it is the same figure.

How much income tax do I pay on 50 LPA?

₹10,53,140 for the year in the new regime, which is about ₹87,762 a month taken as TDS. The old regime would charge ₹12,92,800.

How much PF is deducted on 50 LPA?

₹3,000 a month on the ₹25,000 PF wage ceiling, which is ₹29,360 for the year. If your employer deducts on the full basic, your in-hand falls to ₹2,75,725 a month.

Why is my in-hand salary less than ₹4,16,667, which is 50 LPA divided by 12?

₹4,16,667 is a twelfth of ₹50,00,000. About ₹12,463 a month of the gap is your employer's PF and gratuity, which sit inside the CTC and are not paid as salary. The rest is your own PF, professional tax and income tax. That leaves ₹3,13,242.

What is the in-hand salary on 50 LPA if part of it is variable pay?

With 10% of the CTC as variable pay, the monthly in-hand is ₹2,85,264 instead of ₹3,13,242, and ₹3,44,000 more arrives once a year, after tax. The more of your CTC is variable, the smaller each month is.

Is 50 LPA a good salary?

50 LPA puts ₹3,13,242 in your bank each month. On a common 50/30/20 split that is ₹1,56,621 for needs, ₹93,973 for wants and ₹62,648 for savings. Whether that is good depends on your city, your rent and your dependants, so treat it as a budgeting view, not a ranking.
